Frequently Asked Questions

  • What to bring?:

The most important things to bring are closed shoes (like booties or sneakers) that will get wet, swimsuit, T-shirt and sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses and cap).
It is advisable to bring a change of clothes and a towel for after the activity.

  • Is it necessary to bring water?:

It is not necessary since we provide each participant with a half liter bottle of water at the beginning of the activity. Although if you want to bring more water, there would be no problem.

  • What does lunch include?:

The lunch that our guides serve you in the cave consists of seasonal fruit, chocolate croissants, pastries and cereal bars. In colder seasons we also bring hot tea.

  • Can I bring my cell phone, camera or any personal belongings?:

We advise you not to bring anything that cannot get wet. This includes cell phones or cameras that are not waterproof. However, if you really need to bring something, we can provide you with a waterproof bag or canister.
If it is for the photos, each guide will bring a GoPro camera to take pictures during the excursion, which will be sent to you free of charge.

  • Can I bring my mask or snorkel equipment?:

We always carry masks for all participants. But if you prefer to bring your own equipment, no problem. This way, as it is your own, you can be sure that it fits perfectly.
Do NOT bring fins, as they will be a nuisance. Where we snorkel is a shallow area and we do a lot of walking on the rocks.

  • When can I take this tour?:

This excursion can be done throughout the year. Even in winter. We will provide you with all the necessary equipment so that you do not get cold and have a fully satisfactory experience.

  • Is it possible to snorkel also in winter?:

It is possible that in the colder months it is not possible to snorkel even with a long wetsuit. If this is the case, we will spend that time paddling a little further out to show you some more beautiful corners of the cliff or the guided tour inside the cave will be a little more in depth. In no case will the total time of the excursion be reduced.

  • Is it necessary to wear neoprene in winter?:

You only need to bring the items mentioned in “What to bring”. Depending on the time of the year, we will provide you with a short or long wetsuit if necessary.

  • Are the kayaks doubles or singles?:

The kayaks are usually double kayaks. Although if the group is odd, some of the participants will go in a single kayak.
The guides will never go in a double kayak with a client. They will always go in their individual kayak to guarantee its maneuverability and to maintain the safety of the group.

  • How many people will be in the tour group?:

The maximum group size is 12 people (in 6 double kayaks) plus 2 guides. In high season, most of the days the group will be complete, while in low season the groups are usually smaller. The minimum group size for this activity is 2 people.

  • Can I do the activity if I go alone?:

Of course! You can join any group that has already scheduled the dates you are interested in doing the excursion.

  • What time does the activity start?:

The meeting time for each excursion will vary from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., depending on our turn to access the cave. We will confirm the meeting time at the time of booking.

  • Where do I have to go?:

Our meeting point is the parking lot next to the Mena restaurant, at the end of the road to Las Rotas (Denia).

  • Can I park at the meeting point?:

During the summer months you can not access by car (motorcycle or bicycle yes) to the meeting point (unless you have a reservation to eat at the restaurant Mena). So we recommend you to park in the public parking of Les Rotes, which is 5 minutes walk from our meeting point.
It is possible to park at the same meeting point the rest of the year. However, we will send you the location where you should park once you have made your reservation.

  • How can I get to the meeting point if I do not have my own vehicle?:

The meeting point can be reached by bus from Denia, which runs every hour, although the first bus leaves at 9:00, so it will not be a valid option when we have earlier shifts.
You can also walk from Denia along the promenade of Les Rotes. Although you have to travel 4 km from the center of Denia, so at normal pace you have to calculate about an hour.
The best option if you do not have your own vehicle is to take a cab from Denia. The cost is not very high and, if you are a group, you can share the cost.

  • Are there lockers or somewhere to leave my things during the activity?:

The meeting point is a parking lot where there are no lockers or changing rooms. However, during the excursion you will be able to leave everything you need inside our van.

  • Are there toilets or changing rooms at the meeting point?:

No, we do not have public restroom facilities at our meeting point. So we recommend you to make a stop before if you need to go to the toilet and come with your swimsuit already on.

  • How long does the activity last?:

The duration of the kayaking excursion to the Cova Tallada varies depending on several factors, such as sea conditions or the pace of the group. However, on average, you can expect the adventure to last approximately 2:30 hours, of which we are paddling about 60 minutes round trip (4 km approx.).

  • What is the minimum age for this activity?:

14 YEARS, provided you can swim and have sufficient strength to paddle.

  • What are the requirements for the excursion?:

Know how to swim and have a minimum of physical condition. There should always be at least one adult for each child in your group. Persons weighing more than 100 kg are advised to inform us at the time of booking.

This activity is not recommended for people with back or hip problems, since the posture in the kayak can increase any of these ailments.
It is also not recommended for people with little mobility or difficulty walking, since, throughout the visit, once in the Cova Tallada, we walked through areas with very uneven, wet and with many stones and rocks.

  • Is previous experience necessary for the excursion?:

No, this is a fairly affordable excursion that everyone who meets the requirements of the previous point can do without any problem. No previous experience is necessary, since at the beginning of the activity the guides will give you a short talk explaining the basic paddling technique and safety measures.

  • Can I do the activity if I am prone to dizziness?:

If you are prone to motion sickness, you can still participate in the excursion, but we recommend you to take an anti-motion sickness pill half an hour before the start of the activity. We cannot provide any kind of medication to our clients, so you must bring it yourself.

  • Am I obliged to participate in the different activities during the excursion?:

The only mandatory activity as such would be the kayaking part, as it is unavoidable to reach the Cova Tallada. The rest are optional. It is not mandatory to visit the inside of the cave nor is it mandatory to snorkel. But you will have to wait for the rest of the group with one of the guides while the rest of the group enjoys this part of the excursion.

  • Can I do the tour if I am claustrophobic?:

Although we visited the interior of the Cova Tallada, at no time did we feel the sensation of being crowded, since the spaces are always quite open. Anyway, as mentioned in the previous point, if someone prefers not to visit the interior of the cave, it is not mandatory.

  • What happens if the day of the excursion there is bad weather or bad sea?:

If we have to cancel our activity due to weather conditions, we give you the option to find another date or, if you prefer, we will refund the full amount you have previously paid.

  • Can I rent a kayak and do the activity on my own?:

No, we do not rent equipment on our own. For safety reasons, we consider essential to be accompanied by our professional and qualified guides.

  • Is it necessary to request authorization from the Montgó Natural Park to visit the Cova Tallada?:

No, we are a company authorized by the Montgó Natural Park to carry out this activity in the Cova Tallada, so the participants of our excursion do not need to request this authorization.
